KAJ Heights Choir Sings Sepharadic Classic (!) (and other new goodies from the Heights) – קטעי וידאו חדשים מאת המקהלה של קהל עדת ישורון ניו יארק

KAJ WH Choir Sings Bendigamos (a hymn sung after meals by Spanish & Portugese Jews)

What’s next? The Spanish & Portugese Synagogue choir singing an Ashkenazic tune? 😉 A joint KAJ – S&P concert?

I assume that outside Shul they are open to a wider range of songs than inside it.

Multiple Additional New Clips from the KAJ WH choir

Via Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner.

Enjoy! Thanks!

That’s what happens when you have (good) (Ashkenaz-Sfarad-mod.) ‘intermarriage’.

I had to daven a number of times at the (unofficial) KAJ non affiliate shul in Paramus. Half Yekkes, half Syrians. Baal koreh was Syrian kid. He was ok.

    Thanks for your comment.

As we have mentioned in the past, there are actually some unexpected commonalities between Yekkes and Sepharadim. See e.g. our past posts on ‘crossover hits’ and ‘Sepharadic Yekkes’.

    Hi.

In an old post you wrote that the Maharam Ash didn’t sing the zemiros of the Arizal. Can you please tell which Maharam Ash you’re referring to? Also, what is the source for this fact?

    Hello and thanks for visiting.

You are referring to something written in the post Askinu seudasa – The minhog NOT to say/sing it

    In response to your queries,

    1) The Maharam Ash that was a talmid of the Chasam Sofer.

    2) The source (via RBSH) is ספר זכרון יהודא, מונקאטש תר”ס, דף כו ע”ב. See here, a little less than halfway down the page, in the paragraph starting קודם סעודת צהרים, where it states לא מלאו לבו לומר האתקינו סעודתא ולומר דא היא סעודתא. I have now added that source info to the original post as well.
